WOULD YOUR LOCAL CLUB LIKE TO HOST

THE 2012 NCNA STATE SHOW AND CONVENTION?

The North Carolina Numismatic Association is searching for another location to hold the Annual Show and Convention for 2012.

One of the main criteria, is the availability of enough Club Member Volunteers to handle the Registration, Hospitality, and assisting dealers loading and unloading. They must be willing to do the leg work for pre-show and post-show arrangements. The Convention area must be easily secured.

The criteria for the location will need to have an area consisting of 12,000 to 15,000 sq. ft and 2 Seminar rooms for the Young Numismatic programs and speaker seminars and use as the Annual Membership and Awards Banquet, each need seating for approx. 80 attendees. The set-up will use approx.. 100  - 8’ tables with back-up tables and electrical hook-up for each. It will need ease of access and sufficient Motel or hotel for dealers.

The Board will also look at the thoughts of a smaller show during the spring if a large show isn’t available.

The NCNA Board would be willing to help the local members to accomplice this. Please let us know if your Members are willing to host the Show. Please contact one of the Board Members or Bill Brewer iscc@bellsouth.net or 704-450-1639.

THEFT IN nORTH cAROLINA July 17, 2011

Be on the lookout for a late model 4 door Jeep Cherokee with chrome wheels at local shows, club meetings or coin shops.  The vehicle followed a dealer on Sunday from the State Fairground to Four Oaks NC and the dealer had to stop and get a prescription from Wal-mart. He parked in a handicap spot at the front door and went in. The vehicle occupants broke the side window of the SUV that the dealer was driving and took out 3 black bags of coins. It seems that the thieves must have thought that they contained silver as heavy as they were, they were thought to be possibly watching Dealers load their vehicles at the Fairgrounds. They contained rolls of nickels, dimes and modern quarters, appox. $5000-$6,000.

There are a number of videos that have the vehicle and at present they are trying to see if they can get a license number and who was driving. We will keep you posted as we receive more info.

If you would like an e-mail alert or if you have information when a theft occurs please send  to ncna@bellsouth.net

It will be forwarded to Friends of the NCNA
